happiness decoded

How do you define happiness?
Does it mean having a smile on your face like an old teddy bear that’s
grinning from ear to ear?
Is it doing the things you love, like flying a kite, drawing or singing
even though you’re not good at it?
Or is it the freedom to do anything, fly to Paris or Ireland on a
leisurely holiday or spontaneously finding a hundred rand note in the
back pocket of an old pair of jeans? Or is it the luxury of not having
to count the coins in your wallet when you see something that you
really really really want?
Let’s face it, it would be fantastic to do all of those things but what if
you were alone and had no one to share all those moments with?
Being happy is about being surrounded by people who would do
anything in the world as long as they’re doing it with you. From
having kite flying battles to dropping everything for a last minute
holiday to France, being able to share an experience with someone
special is the ultimate happiness.
It’s a space where you are at your most comfortable with no qualms
or reservations and where the people, or person, who you’re with
makes you feel totally at ease.
But happiness is not about the material things or the lavish dream
destinations or even the ever-flowing bank account. Yes, those things
are awesome to have and honestly having people to share those
things with is equally cool but for me, being happy is about having
found that one person who makes me feel totally at ease and lets me
be… well, me. Now that’s true happiness.
